What type of Termites do I have?

Subterranean Termites Johannesburg

Subterranean Termites

Subterranean termites thrive in wood. Wooden floors, structures, skirting boards, roof beams and kitchen cupboards are prime targets for these wood destroying insects. They can live undetected for years making them difficult to spot until the damage is already done.

Harvester Termites johannesburg

Harvester Termites

Harvester termites are found outdoors and feed on both dead and living plants, twigs, seedlings and grass. Since they invade in large colonies and infestations, these insects are capable of destroying large areas of your garden in a short space of time.

Ant Infestations

Ant infestations in Johannesburg and the Gauteng region are common and usually easy to spot. Although there are many off the shelf products to treat ants, getting to the route cause of the problem is something best left to a professional pest control expert.

Our Termite treatments...

Subterranean termites live in the soil. They make their way inside to feed off timber structures, floors, skirting boards and kitchen cupboards before returning to their colonies in the soil. Creating a barrier between the outside and the inside is the aim of soil treatments.

The first step is to dig a trench around the foundation which surrounds the building. The soil is then treated with a termiticide before the trench is re-filled. This treatment is effective for both prevention as well as cure as it also kills any termites already inside the property as they return to the soil to nest.

When termites infest wooden structures around the home, the damage can be devastating. Since termites are small, they can often go unnoticed for years before the damage begins to show. Its important to check regularly for signs that you may have a termite problem.

There is a wide variety of treatments that pest control professionals can use to treat wood to kill existing termite colonies and prevent new infestations from arising. In new home construction, surface spraying is the most common method of treating wood while foam injection or spray is most commonly used to treat termites in existing homes.

An extremely effective method of termite control is deploying bait stations around the perimeter of a building. A pest control specialist will then monitor these stations on a set frequency to ensure the property is fully protected.

Termite bait stations are a great way to kill existing infestations as well as preventing new ones from reoccurring. Depending on the type of termite infestation you may have, your pest control professional will be able to advise on the most effective treatment.
